Where is Peace?
On a mountain above the clouds?
In a field of yellow sunflowers?
On a still boat in the middle of a lake?
In a cabin surrounded by tall birch trees?
On a beach of golden sand at sunset?
Where is peace?
During a nap on the couch?
In the chapters of a book?
At the end of a long-awaited season finale?
Is peace in clean dishes and folded laundry?
In quiet kids or finished projects or an empty inbox?
In a rainy morning or a summer day or a crisp evening?
Is peace a campfire? A lightning storm? A gentle breeze?
Is it the thrill of adventure to come or the sound of tires on gravel on arriving home?
Is it when Life360 says we’re all safely together?
Where is peace?
Moments flit away. I can’t hold a sunset before it disappears, and comets are gone just as soon as I’ve watched them flash across the sky.
You say you give peace, not as the world gives. What a relief, because the world’s “peace” leaves me hungry and wanting more. Or, even in the moment, I’m grieving the fact that it will soon be gone.
Your peace is now and then and there and around and in and through and above and between and forever and always til the end meets the beginning and forever fades into eternity.
Help me live in your peace. Forever yours.
