The world is exploding, falling apart, and blowing up in fury, hatred, and violence. Everyone is angry and anxious.
So I ask God, “What do you want me to do?”
And He says:
“Pray. Lift up your hands in worship and surrender to me. Send your light into the world – the light of the Spirit living inside you. From that posture, love your family. Shine for all to see.”
And while praying, hands lifted, I saw our house explode in light, and then I understood.
If we all set down our weapons of words and opinions and well-crafted arguments, and instead opened our mouths in praise and thanksgiving to our Great, all-powerful God, we would light up our own hearts. Our own homes. And one by one, the light would spread. The light would grow. The light would envelop this dark world, and the darkness would be vanquished.
This is not a battle against flesh and blood. Against your neighbor or big pharma or the government or viruses. This is a spiritual battle, and in order to fight, we must humble ourselves and surrender to the God who owns it all. Who reigns above it all.
God told me to set down my words – my greatest weapon – and to love my husband and children well. In this way, I will shine.
Shine, friends. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot comprehend it. Lift your arms and your hearts to God in your bedrooms and family rooms. Walk your neighborhood and bathe it in prayer. In this way, what the enemy meant for evil, our God will turn to Good.
In the name of Jesus we pray! Amen!
“And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” Luke 21:25-28
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16
Are you sure that was God’s voice you heard, and not your own? You may be living in a fortified city, and watching a fire sweep through it. (As referenced in Amos 5)
Was this a person word from God, or one he told you to share? As a public statement this is a call to inaction, and worthy of contempt. A message for 1 man to marry a prostitute doesn’t make it a pattern others should emulate, unless you fancy yourself a prophet.
God may have genuinely been telling you to stay home. If you were to get involved in the conversation happening nationally right now, you may do more harm than good, in which case your best course of action is to stay home, watch, and listen. He who has ears, let him hear.
But, to post it publicly ambiguously tells your readers to not get involved as a directive from God, and may be antithetical to what God is doing on a large scale.
The Bible doesn’t speak kindly to those who turn a blind eye to injustice happening around them. Especially when they use praise of God as their distraction. You might want to catch up on Amos 5.
10 There are those who hate the one who upholds justice in court
and detest the one who tells the truth.
11 You levy a straw tax on the poor
and impose a tax on their grain…
12 For I know how many are your offenses
and how great your sins.
There are those who oppress the innocent and take bribes
and deprive the poor of justice in the courts
18 Woe to you who long
for the day of the Lord!
Why do you long for the day of the Lord?
That day will be darkness, not light.
19 It will be as though a man fled from a lion
only to meet a bear,
as though he entered his house
and rested his hand on the wall
only to have a snake bite him.
20 Will not the day of the Lord be darkness, not light—
pitch-dark, without a ray of brightness?.
21 “I hate, I despise your religious festivals;
your assemblies are a stench to me.
22 Even though you bring me burnt offerings and grain offerings,
I will not accept them.
Though you bring choice fellowship offerings,
I will have no regard for them.
23 Away with the noise of your songs!
I will not listen to the music of your harps.
24 But let justice roll on like a river,
righteousness like a never-failing stream!
Thank you for your insight. I agree that it’s important to have an active role in the world, we cannot abandon our main goal. Personally, I strongly hold to the truth that we are to teach the younger women to be busy at home, loving their husbands and children. That’s where we must begin, and move outward from there. I did say that God personally told me to set down my words for a time. That doesn’t mean it’s for everyone. For all of us, we are to pray and shine! We need to get our marching orders from Him, and not from the anxiety of the world.
